Love and memories from all over the world. BABA is a unique performance where elderly immigrants present the treasures of their culture and bond with a new generation and a new culture through stories, dance and song.
Baba means grandmother or grandfather in many languages, and grandparents from around the world live in Trondheim! The performance is based on the participants’ personal contributions and tells of the universal connections which bind grandparents and grandchildren together. Collectively, they have oceans of experience, stories and love to share.
For as our bodies grow older, the more memories, experiences, knowledge and treasures they store and can share.
This is a gentle, intimate family performance by and with some of Trondheim’s many grandparents. Through song, dance and stories which have been told during the creative process, the public is invited into memories from their various childhoods around the world. What do they want to tell the grandchildren of the world?
Cultural expressions are different the world over, but what is shared in the songs, dances and games of different generations?
In BABA you get to meet seniors who bring with them stories from a long life from all corners of the world.
