Imagine yourself standing under the high vaults of Nidaros Cathedral. On the stage in the centre of the cathedral sits a man bent over a grand piano playing the most wonderful, delicate tones which ascend like angels into the vast space, filling it with warmth and beauty. On Wednesday 1. August, you can experience the distinguished pianist Bugge Wesseltoft perform the most beautiful psalms and songs from the exquisite album Everybody Loves Angels. We will hear Bugge’s unique interpretations of melodies such as «Velt Alle Dine Veie», «Bridge Over Troubled Water», «Alltid Freidig Når Du Går», «Morning Has Broken» and «Let It Be».
Snowing On My Piano, Bugge Wesseltoft’s solo Christmas recording, has sold 125 000 copies. The folllow-up with angelic melodies both sacred and secular will undoubtedly be just as popular, because we recognise the need for such music. «The internal and external drone of our on-line life, and a genuine anxiety for the future, cause us to search for tranquility and sleep as if they are the utmost luxuries on earth», writes Audun Vinger in a review of Everybody Loves Angels, in Dagens Næringsliv. This is «a record where the piano almost caresses the calmness between each tone. Some general practitioners might possibly wish they could prescribe it.» (DN, 29/9-17).
